I've always felt there was a strange bond between Cai Jing and Xiao Rang. A little while ago, I came across a very adorable gender-swap artbook, so I decided to write a gender-swapped story featuring the whole cast.
Proceed with caution: gender swapping, GL, first-person narration, and deviation from the original story. The author's writing is poor, so proceed with caution in general.
The title, “Moonrise,” comes from the Book of Songs. I originally planned to write more, but suddenly felt there was a special charm in stopping abruptly here.
The original plan was for Xiao Rang to serve Cai Jing and die a few years later. The emperor would then banish Cai Jing, who would turn into a purple fox along the way and vanish without a trace. Since I don't plan to continue the story, I might as well say it here.
