Love is like this: Heaven decides who you fall for.
Fate is like this: the red string of destiny toys with you without mercy.
Beneath a tree at dusk, a woman furrowed her brow slightly and lifted her pale hand. She sang:
"A lone shadow mourns beside an empty grave, tears falling drop by drop, cold as ice. Tossing and turning, I cannot fall asleep; who knew that dreaming would hurt even more?" She stopped, lost in thought once more, then sang again: "Today I bid you farewell, my son, and send you home. Old grievances fade, but new ones grow. I weep blood and look to the skies, crying out: why was I born, only to suffer this calamity alone? The Hu and Han are separated by foreign lands and different customs; Heaven and Earth divide you in the west from your mother in the east. My bitterness and resentment fill the boundless sky. Though the world is vast, there is no place for me in it!"
Exhausted from singing, she sat down to rest, only to hear someone calling her name.
That person called,
"Yue'er."
The woman turned around and burst into a laugh, her eyes sparkling like silk, stirring the spring waters in the pond.
She laughed.
"You fool."
The four main characters speak:
Xiao Mu: I only want to make amends for a love that went wrong.
Yue Jun: I only want to fix a mistake.
Tuanzi: I only want to stay by her side.
Yue Niang: I only want a simple love.
All four say together: Why is this so hard??? Why? Why? Why the heck?
Hmph, authors are the worst.
We're all helplessly caught up in things!
You only know how wonderful the ending is, not how hard the journey was.
This is the first novel by an amateur writer. The writing is rough, but I had fun writing it, and I hope you have fun reading it too. If you feel yourself blushing, short of breath, or your blood running backward, hurry and click the little X in the upper corner to escape!
Thanks for reading, Sanshi.
