It's very short, neither sad nor happy. The original tone was lighthearted.
I originally wanted Fang and Chai to end up together in this life and live in seclusion.
But then I suddenly felt that perhaps their feelings suited a softer, more understated approach.
They started out as enemies and somehow became lovers. Maybe neither of them could have imagined it.
The original title was "The Imperial Consort," but by the end, I realized the real theme was [Fate], so I changed the title.
Even that final conversation was meant to be lighthearted.
I wanted to end on a world-weary note, but it just didn't fit.
The first half of the story is actually rather tragic in tone.
But somehow, I ended up making it lighthearted.
I didn't explore their feelings in detail, and it's hard to say whether their love is real. Still, I just touched on it briefly and moved on.
