The Years of One Hand

Li Lu grew up in the most well-off family in town. He wore nice clothes and learned to play the piano, earning the envy of the other children his age. Then disaster struck in middle school. He lost his family, was falsely accused of being a thief, and had the bones in his right hand smashed one by one. His crippled right hand meant more than losing the ability to play piano. It was also a source of deep humiliation. After getting into a university in the provincial capital and leaving town, Li Lu began a new life. He believed that having an impaired right hand didn't make him any worse than a normal person. Apart from his studies, all he could think about was how to earn enough for the following year's tuition. He took work-study jobs, handed out flyers, picked up short-term gigs, and set up a street stall by the school's north gate... And he met new people and experienced new things. This story has a little angst, but is mainly calm and heartwarming.
