In the past, it was a Yaoqin. It was made from the middle section of wood, with the yin and yang on the upper back. It was given five strings to represent the five elements. After Xia Yu controlled floods, he added a word "Wen"; when Zhou Fa restored Shang, he added a word "Wu". Civil and military forces work together, yin and yang interact with each other, and the five shapes are dedicated to each other. This is why it is called Qixian Yun'er.

Chang Youzhi said: "The king is the one who plays chess in the world; the scholar is the one who plays the game of chess."
