As Lovely as Flowers

Qin Ru is the famous Princess Ruyi of the Qin Yue Kingdom. She throws tantrums, makes a scene, and even threatens to hang herself, all because she wants to marry the young general Mu Jin. But she dies young, and after the shock wears off, a girl with the same name transmigrates into her body. This Qin Ru couldn't care less about Mu Jin. Instead, she secretly falls for the top scholar Fu Qing, presents him with a flower at the Hundred Flowers Banquet, and asks her father, the emperor, to grant them permission to marry.

I, Fu Qing, vow to spend my life with Qin Ru, loving and protecting her forever. Should I ever break this vow, may I be struck by five bolts of thunder, consumed by a thousand fires, pierced through the heart by ten thousand arrows, and never rise again for all eternity.

Qin Ru stood in the great hall, looking down at those below. Suddenly, a strong gust of wind lifted the red bridal veil that symbolized her new life. Startled, she tried to catch it, but the cloth flew farther and farther away. Her gaze suddenly met a pair of deep, dark eyes. The man stood there dumbfounded, holding the red veil that had drifted into his hands. His dark eyes met Qin Ru's, and a strange feeling suddenly spread through her heart.

Her fair skin was tinged with a faint pink from the wine. Qin Ru snuck a glance at him and promptly got a nosebleed. She hurried to finish, throwing an outfit on him at random, then collapsed on the bed, exhausted. She pushed Fu Qing farther in and lay down beside him. A few claps of thunder rang out, and she clung to him in fright, resting her head against his chest and wrapping all four limbs around him like an octopus. Before long, she drifted off to sleep.

-- I granted you a glorious future, and you destroyed half my kingdom.
