Long ago, in the land of Huaxia Longhan, there ruled a king named Zhou Yu, whose sacred virtue was boundless. The king had a consort, wise, discerning, and compassionate, known as Lady Ziguang. Amid the tribulations of the mortal world, she made a solemn vow to bear holy sons who would aid Heaven and Earth and bring creation into being. Later, one spring day, when flowers bloomed in abundance, she wandered through the imperial garden and bathed in a warm jade pool surrounded by golden lotuses. Suddenly, she felt something stir. Nine lotus buds bloomed at once, and nine sons were born from them. The eldest was the Great Emperor of the Upper Palace of Gouchen, and the second was the Great Emperor of the Central Heaven, the Purple Forbidden North Pole. The other seven were the stars Tanlang, Jumen, Lucun, Wenqu, Lianzhen, Wuqu, and Pojun, known collectively as the Big Dipper. After spending seven days and seven nights in the jade pool, the nine sons joined together in radiant light, flew to the central heavens, and transformed into nine magnificent palaces, ninety million li above the earth.
"The Big Dipper is above us... If the seven gods grant my wish, I would gladly serve them in any way, even as an ox or a horse."

"The ground was slippery. It's not like I meant to bump into you. I'm a grown man and I've never even kissed a girl before. I'm the one who lost out here, okay?"
"You lost out? Then you have to marry me!"
"Come on. I only kissed you once. I didn't do anything else to you. And now you want me to marry you? How about this?" Tianshu looked Xishu up and down. "Kiss me again, and we'll call it even."
"Nonsense! You can't just do something like that!"
"Kiss her! Kiss her!" The people around them joined in, egging them on.
"What am I supposed to do? I'm in a real bind. Look, everyone's telling me to kiss you. How about you let me kiss you? We should follow the people's wishes."
