(Tears of the Sword Fanfiction) Sandalwood Fragrance

There are two kinds of people in this world who live in a drunken haze.

One kind loses themselves in the glittering nightlife and the allure of the mortal world, yet their minds remain perfectly clear.

The other kind is different.

They are calm and composed at all times. Everything is under their control.

What they lose themselves in is their own minds. The more clearly they live and the more keenly they see through things, the more pain and confusion they feel. The more they pursue perfection, the farther they stray from their goal.

Naturally, the latter suffer more than the former.

Because the former are at least still human.

The latter have already become monsters.

The story I want to tell is about how a person becomes a monster.

Now for the snarky version: This is actually the fifth installment in the legendary Snake-and-Scorpion series, the sad tale of Scorpion as she makes her way through life paying off her debts.

Welcome back to the Snake-and-Scorpion series, old friends and new. Hope you enjoy reading!
