July Academy, located on the outskirts of X City, is a private institution of higher education devoted to cultivating talent in the classical arts. The academy focuses primarily on Eastern art, with four departments: music, chess, calligraphy, and painting. In this age of cultural deserts, it is dedicated to training people well versed in classical art. It also has a branch in S City for Western art...
If that's what you really think... then you're completely wrong! Take a good look at the sign bearing the school's full name. Still can't see it? Then come closer, a little closer, and closer still...
All right, it looks like you've finally spotted the "1/2" right after "July." What? You think it's copying HP? Well... the "1/2" was indeed changed to numerals after HP became popular. Originally, it was written using the Chinese character for "half."
Ahem, back to the point. This story is about a boy who loves Chinese chess, overcoming every obstacle as he pursues his dream of becoming a professional player, and eventually reaching the summit of the chess world to become a legend...
Just kidding! Did you think this was Hikaru no Go? Where did that shonen manga plot come from?
Let's start over: This story is about a boy who loves Chinese chess and gets conned into attending a strange school. He's dragged away from his bright and healthy path toward becoming a professional player and forced onto a bizarre road... and from then on, his life changes completely...
It's called supernatural, but really, it's just a team of four taking on the school's various little monsters and bosses = =~
This story is mainly about a passionate boy who dreams of becoming a professional Chinese chess player, and how he's dragged kicking and screaming into the world of supernatural events, where he ends up, tragically, becoming an exorcist boy. Oh, the anguish. T_T
This isn't a scary ghost story at all. It's more of a fantasy story with an exorcism theme, told in a lighthearted, clean style. If you like it, please show your support! The bonus chapters after the main story ends will have a delightful surprise for you >_<
