Smoke Rises Across the Plains

In the fourth year of the Xining era, under the Northern Song, He Zhen, a junior official in Licheng County, implements the new policies and faces an inspection by an investigation commissioner, who has come to check the accounts for the Green Sprouts loans.

Then Chai Yang arrives, carrying a sword and armed with a family iron deed of privilege, to investigate the new policies.

Both are renowned martial heroes, yet they meet in a decidedly unorthodox way.

People of quiet and outgoing temperaments can be confidants, as long as they recognize the ideals they share.

Two male leads, no couple, a wuxia novel with martial arts elements that breaks from the usual conventions.

Realistic, not a power fantasy.

A slow writing schedule, two updates a week.
