Five hundred years ago, people were obsessed with becoming gods. They longed to ascend to the Heavenly Court and enjoy its riches and honors. They had no concept of nation or home, and lived wretched, pitiful lives.
Then, seemingly overnight, an Emperor of Music appeared and opened a path to imperial rule in the mortal realm. At last, people no longer had to obsess over becoming gods. They could live as human beings, too.
But when orders came down forbidding the felling of the mountains of gold and silver, this Emperor of Music became the people's hated enemy! In secret, they plotted, thinking it would make no difference to replace their ruler. Instead, they brought the imperial path to its end.
Le Yin was reborn, but the hatred between her family and her country would not fade, and her depression went unseen.
Yet a zither that had waited in vain, a jade flute shattered to pieces, a suicide, and a person shut away became the love that grew within her hatred.
