Bai Xi, a little fox, was frail from birth and only managed to take human form after great difficulty. Then a group of bandits came, claiming some treasure called the Exquisite Heart was in Qingqiu. Without a word, they slaughtered Qingqiu, leaving behind only two poor little souls, who were also afflicted with a spell of forgetfulness.
