Lan Feiyan is called an old man despite being young. She doesn't live elegantly, and her brain runs like a machine.
A capable village Party secretary, she transmigrates one day into a life with both parents dead and no one to rely on, only to open her eyes and find she's about to be sent off as a concubine to a creditor.
Better to die than suffer such humiliation.
She plays dead and makes her escape on the spot, heading south to make a living.
But why are the roads so bad? Why is the bridge so decrepit? Why hasn't anyone fixed this irrigation canal? Are they waiting for a flood?
So while fleeing, she repairs canals and builds dams, developing the local community until her desperate escape turns into a secretary's rural work tour.
Along the way, she even picks up a mild-mannered, obedient swordsman who says he loves wandering and that his heart belongs to faraway places.
Lan Feiyan: "Can you go be crazy somewhere farther away?"
Only later does she discover that not only is he faking being a swordsman, he's faking that sweet, gentle personality too!
But life is full of surprises. Secretary Lan can even become an official in ancient times.
So she picks up her pen to write a biography of her glorious life. The first line reads:
Don't pick up stray dogs on the roadside. They're probably up to something.
Zhao Songyuan: "...Woof."
Theme: Live well and build a prosperous life.
Look what I found!!! 😍
