[A Single Flame of Orange × Ancient, Eternal Cold Jade]
[Strange Tales and Immortal Cultivation | Companionship Before Love | Mutual Devotion]
When Yan Shu first meets Qi Yan, he thinks this wisp of orange flame, trespassing in the forbidden grounds of Cold Mountain, is nothing but trouble and must be driven out or destroyed.
Only after spending a long time by her side does he learn that the one being in the world who devours love has always coveted her one-of-a-kind warmth, the living flame.
Qi Yan is the last orange spirit left behind by Twilight Mountain. The warmth of her flame is her very essence, a rare spark of life in the world.
All the creatures of the Three Realms know her fire can dispel the ancient chill, and that it is the food the love-devouring fiend dreams of consuming.
Until she sees through her fate: the law of Heaven decrees that cold and warmth must oppose each other. The longer they stay together, the more they will wear each other down, until her flame is extinguished and his jade shatters.
By the time they realize it, the seal suppressing the fiend's corruption is already tottering, and foul waves surge beneath Cold Mountain.
Qi Yan knows this spirit of the ancient cold jade is the calamity Heaven has assigned her.
She also knows that if he falls in love, his cultivation will crumble and his lifespan will be cut short.
Qi Yan: Then I'll borrow his Cold Mountain as a temporary refuge.
Since we are bound to clash anyway, I might as well borrow his ancient chill to fend off the calamities that would steal my flame.
[Mini Scenes]
The first time the love-devouring fiend followed the warmth and attacked the forbidden grounds, Yan Shu's cold aura surged, his expression bleak.
This flame invites disaster. It cannot stay. I should cut ties and let it go.
The second time, he protected her as they escaped the fiend's encirclement. His clothes were stained with filth as he silently looked back.
Anything that dares steal the flame at his side is unworthy.
Then came the third time, the fourth...
Qi Yan was always waiting for the day he could no longer withstand Heaven's backlash and would drive her from Cold Mountain.
But from the frost-buried caves to the deep forest where mountain winds howled,
this mountain guardian, who had once known neither heart nor feeling, stood quietly against each tribulation and shielded her behind his cold aura, time and again.
Leaning against his side, Qi Yan secretly thought,
perhaps this bond, condemned by Heaven as a clash, could last a little longer.
