Zhang Yushu has been dreaming a lot lately. In his dreams, his roommate is the male lead of an old-fashioned romance novel.
The book features a memorable supporting female character, Zhao Mingshu. She pursues the male lead but fails, and eventually dies young in a home burglary.
When Zhang wakes up and returns to reality, this beautiful supporting character is standing right in front of him, glaring at him in displeasure because of a misunderstanding.
Zhang Yushu is just a background extra in the book, working diligently every day and taking the occasional opportunity to watch the main characters' love and heartbreak unfold.
That is, until he realizes the supporting female character has fallen for him. Then things start to get weird.
