The story follows four teenagers from very different family backgrounds. After her father, a narcotics officer, dies in the line of duty, the heroine, Shen Xinfan, becomes insecure and withdrawn. The hero, Lu Huai'an, gently guides her out of the shadows with his sunny, openhearted nature. Lu Huai'an's childhood friend, Song Yiheng, has alexithymia and grew up in the shadow of his alcoholic mother. The second female lead, Xu Anran, seems cheerful on the surface, but is actually trapped in the turmoil of her parents' arguments and divorce.
The four support one another throughout their three years of high school. In their second year, Xu Anran's family falls apart, and the other three break in to save her. Song Yiheng's frozen heart is warmed by Xu Anran, while Lu Huai'an presses on with determination as his parents hide their cancer diagnoses from him. In the end, these four wounded teenagers heal one another and get into the same university. They go from school uniforms to wedding dresses, completing a grand story of mutual salvation.
Theme: Each teenager carries their own wounds, but through keeping one another company and healing each other, they find courage and reconciliation as they grow.
