[Clearheaded, kindhearted, and warm heroine x lonely, devoted, obsessive man]
She transmigrated into a book, becoming a cannon-fodder character who disguised herself as a boy and had a crush on the villain.
The good news: she got the golden finger every transmigrator needs, a System.
The bad news: besides keeping her company, it was useless. It even expected her to bring the original male and female leads together and save the world from the brink of collapse!
Su Wan's mouth twitched. Who, me?
This was enough to make her lose it. She was an ordinary person. How was she supposed to solve a problem like that?
But in the real world, she'd already been killed by a car. If she didn't stay here, she'd have to be reincarnated right away! With no other choice, she could only stay put and do her best to see if this world could still be saved...
She felt her way forward one step at a time, fitting in with the class, dealing with the villain, and following the System's prompts. Whenever she ran out of ideas, her other roommate would accidentally come to her rescue.
What a lucky star!
The System had identified this roommate as a mere side character, but he was quite interesting. He was handsome and nice, just a little quiet and solitary. Still, whenever she invited him somewhere, he accepted. He seemed pretty great.
And though he never showed off, he turned out to be a rich second-generation heir! Thanks to his help, she made it to the party where the plot was supposed to take place.
As for the System, it would tell her half the story and hide the rest. Having an ulterior motive was one thing, but it also kept letting things slip. Only after she pieced everything together and grilled it several times did it finally come clean.
The sky was falling. This was a hell-level scenario. Life just kept getting more and more hopeless.
Given the circumstances, what could she do? She had no choice but to grit her teeth, dodge the original host's plot-mandated death, reclaim her identity as a girl, and get a job at the library.
She'd thought that once her disguise as a boy was exposed, her angelic roommate would find her hard to face. But instead, he came to her and said he'd fallen in love with her. Su Wan was stunned!
Wait, how had he fallen in love with her? Was this really the time for romance? But shamefully, her heart fluttered.
As they spent more and more time together, he started to seem a little strange...
[Bonus scene]
The System describes the villain's motives toward the original heroine and how he secretly admires her.
Su Wan and Shen Jingrui sneakily hide and watch as the original heroine is rescued. The villain steps out, picks up the false nail and scarf she left behind, and gazes at them with infatuated fervor. He cups them in his hands, lowers his head, and takes a deep breath, looking thoroughly pleased.
Su Wan makes a disgusted face and comments, "What a pervert. He acts like a creep, sniffing her things. Ugh!"
Shen Jingrui watches him, his eyes secretly gleaming in the dim surroundings. "Actually, I can understand why he does that."
?
Su Wan glances sideways at him. "You really shouldn't be understanding that!"
He smiles gently. "I'm just discussing it, not agreeing with it."
"Have you been reading anything lately?" she asks out of the blue.
"Wuthering Heights, The Love of a Stalker, The Collector," he replies, smoothly taking the out she's offered him.
Su Wan nods. "Don't get too immersed. Love expressed through twisted behavior can get the police called on you."
Shen Jingrui's eyes curve as he smiles. "All right."
