Sevia's dream is to have enough money to spend every day playing around without having to work.
But unfortunately, he was born poor.
And, unfortunately, he's a beta.
In this bleak era, when even the upper classes discriminate against betas when choosing lovers, he doesn't even have the chance to take decades off the hard way.
So Sevia had no choice but to push himself relentlessly at school and on the battlefield. After ten years of effort, he finally achieved a major success.
At twenty-four, he received a personal commendation from the Emperor and was appointed the public-facing director of the Empire's aristocratic academy, whose students were all the children of generals and legislators. This was meant to demonstrate the Empire's equal treatment of talented commoners and prevent the nobles from becoming too displeased. When making the appointment, the Emperor hinted that someone would help with the work, so Sevia wouldn't need to worry too much.
Clearly, he was being made a high-ranking mascot with no real authority.
Sevia was very pleased with this.
No real authority meant it didn't matter whether he worked or not. In fact, it was better if he didn't. A high public standing meant generous benefits. No work and lots of money: wasn't that his ideal life?
And so he began happily enjoying life.
Then he met a certain Crown Prince who was studying at the academy.
"...Wait, if you were going to confess your love, couldn't you have shown up ten years earlier? What's the point of coming now, after I've finished working myself to the bone? If I date you now, I'll have to work after all!"

One-on-one romance, younger top. The Crown Prince is the top.
Don't worry, the bottom won't lose his job. The feelings are mutual, and the two of them are a match made in heaven.
A lighthearted comedy, with ABO and space opera elements. A classic empire, classic sci-fi with vibranium spears. And since I'm illiterate, the science and politics in this story are also pretty illiterate. The main plot is mostly about the couple dating and other people making fun of them, so it's only suitable for reading without thinking too hard.
All the main characters are adults.
Theme: Hard work leads to a wonderful life
