The Rose and the Duke

Cecilia transmigrates to an eighteenth-century English town. Her father is a down-on-his-luck apothecary burdened with debt, and he has a pack of terrible relatives on his heels. Relying on the pharmaceutical knowledge she has studied diligently and medical knowledge from the future, she helps her father get back on his feet and gives her family a better life. People praise her as the Acupuncture Rose, but her success also brings new troubles.

The heroine is beautiful, vivid, and full of life. The hero is handsome and reserved, and suffers from postwar trauma. He conceals his identity and stays by her side to seek treatment. At first, her looks attract him, but eventually it is her character that wins him over. Every day, her delicious food and acupuncture heal him in body and soul. He defies his family for her, only to discover that his rose has another identity...

You could also call this story: With Chinese cuisine and traditional Chinese acupuncture, she becomes a duke's one true love, using her Chinese charm to rule eighteenth-century England.

The story is set in an alternate version of England, but in the real eighteenth-century England, a single woman would have had to support herself, and making it big would have been nearly impossible. Practicing medicine as an apothecary would have gotten her branded a witch, so please don't scrutinize the historical details too closely.

Theme: Stand on your own two feet and face hardship without fear.
