Everyone fears Xie Chenyuan of the Palace Guard.
He commands the imperial guards and oversees interrogations and investigations in the imperial prison. A man of ruthless deeds and a sullied reputation, he is a blade of ice hanging over the court and the people of the Great Jing. Everyone avoids him, calling him a cruel official and a wolf.
Only Su Qingyue, the legitimate daughter of the Su family, saw the loneliness hidden beneath his blade at the Begonia Banquet.
Born to a family of upright scholars, she is clear-sighted and reads the court's power plays as easily as the lines in her palm. She has no interest in romance and fears no gossip.
An investigation at a marquis's manor brings the cold blade face-to-face with the bright moon.
Testing and maneuvering, drawing closer step by step.
With power in hand, falling in love means exposing a weakness. Bound by the shackles of their powerful families, deep feelings bring entanglements. Two formidable equals become kindred spirits, their love restrained but profound. Happy ending.
