After quitting her job, a former hotel operations manager just wants to get a good night's sleep. She repeatedly complains about the part-time pastry chef next door, but as she keeps helping clean up mishaps with the orders, they end up opening a neighborhood shop together, and she learns how to make room in her life for someone else.
When Xu Zhimian moved into Yushu Lane, she set herself three rules: go to bed on time, never answer work calls, and stop cleaning up other people's messes.
Then Cheng Zhaowan next door started moving baking trays, chopping nuts, and hauling equipment, and all three rules were broken within a week. Xu Zhimian knocked on her door, ready to have a serious talk, only to find her holding a smashed strawberry cake and asking, “The middle part didn't touch the floor. Want some?”
Cheng Zhaowan is talented at making desserts, but her business is always losing money. She's too embarrassed to raise her prices, can't bear to turn down an order, and whenever a customer says it's for an anniversary, she squeezes another job into her own time off. Xu Zhimian happens to be good at the things Cheng Zhaowan isn't, but she once became so good at solving problems that the entire hotel treated her as if she never got tired.
The two start with a one-month trial collaboration, then end up renting a little shop on the corner. As customers, bills, and life itself come pouring in, they gradually reveal their own problems: whenever Xu Zhimian gets nervous, she takes over the decisions; whenever Cheng Zhaowan is afraid of losing a relationship, she agrees to everything.
