A prime minister's daughter who pretends to be frail but is truly clever and brave x a crown prince's shadow guard who pretends to be composed but is actually clingy

Lin Wanfei is the daughter of the current prime minister. Her virtues and talents are second to none, thanks to her parents' generous guidance. She also understands the unfair position women hold in the world today.

The little beggar she happened to save turns out to be a witness to the assassination attempt at the Eastern Palace. She boldly submits a secret report, earns the emperor's favor, and is tasked with investigating a rebellion. She seizes the opportunity to fight for women's status. They say women are inferior to men? I'll break these outdated conventions!

The crown prince, whom she has never met, showers her with favors for no apparent reason. Given his status, she can only half-heartedly play along, but as they spend time together, she gives him her heart. It turns out the man in black she casually had sold off was the crown prince himself. What a terrible mistake!

Shen Yi is the crown prince's shadow guard. He is ordered to impersonate the crown prince to protect him and investigate the assassination attempt at the Eastern Palace.

While fleeing his pursuers, he recklessly climbed into a young woman's carriage. To keep his identity secret, he threatened her into finding him a place to hide. He never expected to be fooled by her delicate appearance and end up getting sold off.

When his subordinate reported back, he learned that she was someone he knew. That lively flash of pink beneath the peach trees at Pulin Temple had stayed in Shen Yi's memory ever since. And so began his one-sided pursuit.

His wife wants to investigate a case, so he helps out. His wife wants to scheme, so he handles the arrangements. He works tirelessly to make his way into Lin Wanfei's heart, taking care to keep his secret identity under wraps along the way. He can handle both his mission and his wife, having his cake and eating it too!

A brilliant strategist and a master of martial arts are a match made in heaven! But when Lin Wanfei sees Shen Yi injured while protecting her, she can't help but feel sorry for him. Every time, she softens. Until at last she sees him badly wounded and blind, and her fury burns. She'll win an official title and save the man she loves. She'll have both!

"My lady..."

"Who's your lady? Don't go saying things like that!"

"Lord Lin, we're already married. The ceremony is done, the gifts have been exchanged, and our names have been entered in the register. There's no going back now, even if you want to change your mind."

As he spoke, Shen Yi pulled her into his arms. Only when he felt her warmth against him could he finally feel at ease. Lin Wanfei wasn't annoyed. She let him carry on like this and wrapped her arms around his broad back.

Who says love at first sight is a bad thing? It's wonderful!

Reader advisory:

1. One-on-one romance, both leads are pure, happy ending. (The male lead gives his whole heart to the female lead!)

2. A male lead who pretends to be composed but is really clingy x a female lead who pretends to be frail but is truly clever and brave. He's clingy early on, then becomes an insecure, pitiful wreck after he is badly injured, disfigured, and blinded. The female lead investigates a rebellion to earn an official title, challenge women's unequal status, stay true to herself, and blaze a trail.

3. The male lead really does go blind, but he recovers later. The story starts slowly, and the romance develops gradually, though his feelings grow passionate first. Love at first sight, secret identity revealed, and a handsome, strong but tragic man, all told at an unhurried pace.

4. This is an alternate history, so please don't scrutinize the details too much.

Theme: When all the flowers of April have faded from the human world, peach blossoms are just beginning to bloom in the mountain temple.

Who says women are inferior to men? I'll show the world what I'm capable of.
