Good news: I transmigrated.
Bad news: I transmigrated...
Wei Shufei is a student of archaeology and history. Before he can achieve his lofty goal of studying cultural relics left behind by the ancients, he's only managed to find part-time work as a museum guide, introducing artifacts to a group of children. Then, in the next instant, he inexplicably transmigrates to the late Eastern Han Dynasty, an age of warlords vying for supremacy and dominion over the realm.
Other people start with fine horses and carriages, beautiful women, and every comfort at their fingertips, with talented ministers and strategists to help them carve out a territory of their own.
Wei Shufei looks at the clothes riddled with holes, scratches his tangled hair, which seems to have bits of grass stuck in it, and falls into deep thought...
He really does get to see the freshest cultural relics: things that were just broken, just thrown away, just spat out, and just pooped out (crossed out).
[Congratulations, Host, you are now bound to the Scavenger System!]
[Newbie Quest: Pick up five pieces of trash]
[Complete the quest to earn points, which can be exchanged for food]
An electronic voice speaks inside his head.
Forced to wander and so hungry that his vision is blurring, Wei Shufei says, "...I'll pick it up."
He crawls out of a garbage heap, then finds a discarded broken arrow and deduces that an ambush is coming. He saves a group of refugees, and by pure chance earns Liu Bei's favor.
Room and board covered every day. Eating his fill is no longer just a dream!
At last, he's no longer a wild man without a lord to serve!
Xuande knows me. How could I betray him?
After finding a patron, Wei Shufei starts out as a minor clerk in the Supply Department. While others analyze military reports, he rummages through garbage heaps. While others interrogate spies, he studies medicinal dregs.
Medicine dregs can reveal the disease behind an epidemic, wheel tracks can point to supply routes, and broken arrows can reveal where an army comes from. Even slops carried out of the enemy camp let him figure out what the enemy ate the day before.
Intelligence can lie, and spies can deceive, but trash never lies.
At first, Wei Shufei just wants to scavenge enough points to exchange for a bun that will fill his stomach.
But when he looks back on it all, he realizes he's already helped outfit the army, uncover plots, and help his lord slowly lay the foundations of the future Shu-Han kingdom.
Who says the fight for dominion over the realm has to begin with the Imperial Seal?
Wei Shufei started with a pile of trash and a rotten System that made him scavenge for junk.
