Shen Qingwu has a secret:
She was smuggled out of the execution ground.
Eight years ago, the entire Shen family was sentenced to death. She should have died beneath the executioner's blade. Someone rescued her, hid her in the palace, and gave her a new identity and a reason to go on living:
Clear her family's name.
For eight years, she lay low in the Secret Archives, painstakingly checking old records day and night, all to find a piece of evidence that could prove the Shen family's innocence.
Her greatest wish in life is to clear her family's name. Her biggest obstacles are having no money, no power, and no one to rely on. Her biggest surprise is that the infamous living demon, Prince Jing Xiao Che, has come to inspect the archives earlier than expected tonight.
As luck would have it, her foot slipped, and she crashed straight into those eyes, cold as a deep pool.
Xiao Che looked down at her, his voice cool and clear. "Miss, are you throwing yourself at me?"
Shen Qingwu: ?
Your Highness, I just slipped.
But he clearly didn't believe her.
