On the day Lu Ran differentiated at eighteen, she learned for the first time what it meant to want someone.
For those few seconds when her pheromones ran wild, only one person appeared in her mind: Su Yun, her sister's wife, her sister-in-law.
After that, the way Lu Ran looked at Su Yun changed. She no longer looked at her as a younger sister looking at her sister-in-law, but as an Alpha looking at an Omega.
Su Yun noticed the change. She began wearing high collars, locking doors, and "working overtime."
Lu Ran blocked her at the bedroom door. "Sister-in-law, what are you hiding from?"
"You're too young. You don't understand anything yet."
"I'm eighteen."
"I'm your sister-in-law."
"So what? My sister only comes home once a year. Besides, she's not my biological sister..."
Su Yun slapped her. Lu Ran didn't dodge. The slap landed with all her strength, as if she meant to beat every delusion out of Lu Ran.
Su Yun sent Lu Ran abroad.
On the day Lu Ran left, Su Yun didn't see her off, and Lu Ran didn't look back. But she left a note under Su Yun's pillow.
"You can't avoid me forever. I'll come back when I graduate."
The thing Su Yun regretted most in her life was kicking Lu Ran out of the house when she was eighteen.
It was also the thing she was most grateful for.
