[Update schedule varies]
Luo Chen has recently become obsessed with a game.
It has a fantasy adventure setting, with humans, elves, dwarves, and the like. Nothing about it is particularly novel, and Luo Chen has played plenty of games in this genre. Still, he was drawn in by its gorgeous graphics, on par with a major AAA release, its diverse combat system, and its overall freedom.
As a combat enthusiast, following the usual career path would be doing a disservice to the freedom the game offered.
So Luo Chen swung a meteor hammer, became an assassin, took quests from the Adventurers' Guild, and traveled among the urban districts of various races, earning and spending coins. He soaked in the local culture while savoring the thrill of combat.
Luo Chen played for an entire day at a time. He even dreamed of slaughtering goblins in the heat of battle, completely lost in the game.
At the same time, more and more cases of people dying suddenly in their sleep were being reported. Experts urged young people to spend less time gaming, get more sunlight, and exercise.
At first, nobody took it seriously. Then countless human heroes flooded into the city-states, the dark web quietly took shape, and unique written ciphers from another world were carved into stones and spread far and wide. At last, a truth hidden deep beneath the surface came to light.
This wasn't a game. It was a real world, and the experts had been right!
Some were happy, others distraught. All they could do was hope someone would reach the end of the world, defeat the final boss, and bring the game to a definitive end.
"Has that guy not shown up yet?"
"He'll definitely come. How could he miss a scene like this?"
"True. Let's wait a little longer. He's a bit odd, and his fighting style is pretty unconventional, but if he joins us, I'd say our chances of winning are at least 50%."
"He's here! The big shot still hates talking and doesn't say much, and he's still not joining the tactical discussion. He must have a plan already. This one's in the bag!"
Luo Chen: ...Hold on, I'm a slow typist.
Theme: Adventure.
