Synopsis
[Independent Singer-Songwriter x Idol]
[Free-Spirited Overseas Returnee x Perfectionist with a Complicated Personality]
Fans of the hugely popular idol group PIECE have been worried lately.
PIECE's new album was supposed to dominate the charts for months, but an album released out of nowhere by Ying Xi, an overseas returnee signed to the same company, knocked it down to second place.
What made things even more dramatic was that PIECE's leader, Nan Zhou, would be promoting the album on a show for the last time, and the overseas returnee was scheduled to appear on the very same episode.
An awkward encounter was inevitable. Nan Zhou had always been known as a gentle, polite, elegant gentleman of a prince, and in all his years in the industry, he had never fallen out with anyone.
Ying Xi, on the other hand, was famous for being independent, rebellious, and wild. After spending several years studying abroad, she had become even more formidable. She had once publicly denounced a judge for knowing nothing about music.
It was no wonder the fans were so anxious: wouldn't she completely bully him if they came face-to-face?
The fans were ready to flood the comments with support, but on the show the two acted intimately, as if they weren't meeting for the first time at all. After the woman performed her lead single, the man smoothly handed her water and a microphone, even putting in a straw beforehand.
The fans were stunned: What was going on?
Ying Xi smiled faintly. "It's perfectly normal. After all, we've known each other for ten years."
The fans erupted.
Solo fans: It's no big deal. They're only childhood friends. Childhood friends can't become lovers!
The newly emerging ship fans: Silent, but watchful.
An insider: Heh. She confessed to him before going abroad, and he couldn't sleep all night.
The fans settled down for the moment, but as the two kept working together more and more, someone dug up the fact that Nan Zhou had traveled abroad several years ago, to the very city where Ying Xi was attending university. In a candid street photo, the two were wearing matching bracelets. And in their duet, they danced close together, sparks of ambiguity flying beneath their fierce, confrontational gazes.
Solo fans: No way, no way! If their friendship of over ten years was going to turn into something else, it would have happened ages ago. Why would it happen now?
The ship fans, growing steadily in number: Silent, but watchful.
An insider: I don't know who got drunk after the annual party and clung to their phone, insisting she stay up with him to ring in the New Year. The time difference was more than ten hours, and she was in seclusion working on her music, but that young lady actually put up with it. Is this the power of "friendship"?
Then, on a variety show with multiple guests, Nan Zhou drew a dare that required him to kiss the person sitting on his left.
That person was Ying Xi. Seeing his card, she frowned. "Let's skip this one. I'll drink for you."
She was just about to signal the director to cut the segment when a shadow suddenly fell over her from the side.
Nan Zhou pulled away quickly. He even smiled at the camera, looking as gentle, gentlemanly, and pure as ever.
He said, "Kissing someone on the cheek is a very common way to greet people abroad. You taught me that, remember?"
And Ying Xi, in full view of everyone and several cameras, blushed.
As soon as the clip came out, solo fans were in despair, while the ship fans finally had their moment: Hahaha, I told you those two had something going on!
An insider: I'm so tired of being both of your relationship counselors. Even the most drawn-out soap opera I've ever seen wasn't as full of indecision as you two. When can I click to watch the finale?
Ying Xi is best at two kinds of songs: rock that expresses herself and sings out boldly, and tender love songs that are bittersweet as summer. Her fans call her the most talented singer-songwriter at capturing both sides of the "cool and sweet" duality.
Only she knows that every one of her love songs is written for the same person.
Theme: Lovers find their way to each other in the end
