[You don't need to know Greek mythology to enjoy this. It's a story about a modern person who transmigrates to ancient Greece, becomes Agapeia, a woman adored by all (including the gods), sweeps across the Aegean, and builds a civilization.]
After dying unexpectedly and transmigrating, Agapeia becomes the young princess of Ithaca in Homer's Odyssey, an anomaly who never existed in the history books.
Before her husband Odysseus set off for war, the queen was already expecting another child. They decided to name their second child after "Agape," meaning selfless love given without expectation of return.
They loved each other deeply, and loved their children too, but no one could escape the pain of parting in the face of war.
Agapeia grows up surrounded by the love of her mother and elder brother. She knows that although the Trojan War will end in victory, her father, whom she has never met, will wander abroad for a full twenty years.
One day, Ithaca will be surrounded by wolves and battered by storms, until Odysseus returns, slaughters the ill-intentioned suitors, and reclaims the vacant throne.
This is an age when mortals and gods coexist. People seek victory and glory, yearning to become legends in epic poems.
The oracle whispers:
The sea mist gathers, hardships abound,
The greedy devour the throne,
While guilt, hatred, and cruel twists of fate pass from one generation to the next.
An unfamiliar star streaks across the sky.
The godsent child of Ithaca
Will bring abundance and hope.
Waves of grain ripple across the fields,
And the olive trees bloom anew,
If only she can endure the trials of fate.
In the darkness, a loyal servant of the old king clings to the prophecy, placing his hopes in Prince Telemachus growing to adulthood. Yet the beauty of an oracle is that...
Until fate is sealed, every interpretation remains uncertain.
Agapeia of Ithaca, protector of her family and kingdom, rules with wisdom, compassion, and a firm hand, bringing technology, civilization, and prosperity. Legend says she even turned down eternal life and godhood, remaining humble and human, and chose to grow old alongside the one she loved.
Her subjects and retainers follow her; her family and friends love her dearly; gods and heroes admire her; enemies and traitors fear her. Agapeia's deeds begin in Ithaca and are sung throughout every city-state.
Some praise her compassion, wisdom, beauty, and wit, saying she is just like her faithful and courageous mother, Queen Penelope. Others call her cunning and silver-tongued, just like her father Odysseus, the mastermind behind the Trojan Horse.
But at first, she was just a girl who wanted to reunite her family while navigating the wills of gods, mortals, and fate.
[Highlights]
1. The setting stays close to the original, but minor details of the timeline and background may change as needed for the plot.
2. !!! I ship Penelope and Odysseus, so their love story will be pure and unshakable!!! The heroine will have many one-sided romances where her feelings go unreturned, while her eventual pairing (not yet decided) will be mutual and pure.
3. An ancient Greek setting with gods. Expect rhetorical debates in the divine realm and civilization-building in the mortal world.
4. Idea archived on 2026.9.12. Feel free to borrow a trope, and you'll earn six hundred hits from Odysseus's jetpack. Rough blurb, written on a whim. I'll revise it later. For now, let's share it with friends. What could be more fun?
