After taking just one bite of a contestant’s bizarre dish, Jiang Heng fell into a vortex to another world while filming a food variety show. A voice told him he had become the owner of a luxurious manor.
Jiang Heng brushed the dust off his backside and stood up, only to discover that the “luxurious manor” before him was actually an abandoned old castle. It was gloomy and dilapidated, overgrown with weeds, and looked as if it could slide down the hill at any moment.
A gray mouse standing upright suddenly appeared and solemnly said to Jiang Heng, “I am the guardian spirit of this manor. You’re lucky: I’ve chosen you as its heir. From today on, this manor is yours!”
“As a witch, you have incredible magic and racial gifts. Repairing the manor, restoring the land, saving this continent… I’ll leave it all to you!”
“A witch? Me?” Jiang Heng pointed at himself, looking utterly dumbfounded.

They say a fearsome witch lives in a manor at the edge of the Dark Forest. They can control the land, make magical plants grow, and have a four-meter-tall dark creature as a familiar. All the heroes who set out to defeat them never return.
But there are two things people don’t know:
First, the witch is a man.
Second, the witch is busy every day struggling to clear the land, patch up the crumbling old castle, and scrape together enough to eat. He’s exhausted all the time, can barely use basic spells, and hasn’t a clue about forbidden arts or black magic.
One day, while gathering herbs in the Dark Forest, Jiang Heng came across a tall hunter who had passed out. Broad shoulders, long legs, full pecs, solid eight-pack abs: he looked like he’d be great at manual labor.
Overjoyed, Jiang Heng dragged him straight back to the manor. “Free labor!”
After recovering, the hunter dutifully repaired fences, hunted in the mountains, and guarded the manor. He didn’t talk much, worked hard, and never complained.
His one small flaw was that he couldn’t be allowed near the vegetable garden.
Jiang Heng had to put him to work outside the garden beds, constantly reminding him, “Selend! Don’t step into the vegetable patch! My radishes can’t take you trampling all over them!”
Raising seedlings and planting crops, tending livestock and brewing wine, cooking delicious meals: Jiang Heng chattered away every day, while the hunter listened quietly and took on all the heavy work.
Life grew more and more comfortable. The former owner of a countryside guesthouse set up shop again on the magical continent, and the witch’s manor farmstay became famous across the land.

[Bonus Scene]
One day, a bounty-hunting party made up of elves, centaurs, dwarves, and werewolves crept up near the witch’s manor.
The bounty hunters (furious): “Oh no! It really is Selend! He must be trapped in the manor by the evil witch and unable to get out! Don’t worry, brother, we’re here to save you!”
Selend (calmly): Feeding the chickens, chopping firewood, carrying a basket of compost, carefully steering around the seedlings, wiping the sweat from the cooking witch’s brow, and enjoying a delicious lunch together.
The bounty hunters (confused): “Does this guy even remember he’s a witch hunter, and that his mission is to kill the witch? Wait, what are they eating? It smells amazing!”
