To learn magic, Lovira made a pact with a farming System that could unlock her magical talent. She inherited an estate from a distant relative, along with an enormous debt.
She had expected the estate's land might be poor and the local economy underdeveloped, but no one had told her the land had already turned barren. The estate was completely empty. She would have to start from scratch.
Worst of all, she couldn't even get into the manor, and had to make do living in a warehouse.
The battered furniture in the warehouse could still be used after a little fixing. The broken windows could be patched up, and even without a kitchen, she could dig a hole by the door and make a mud stove.
Lovira diligently completed every task the System gave her: planting, gathering, and studying magic.
Little by little, everyone in the town of Vega heard about the genius witch who'd arrived. She seemed capable of anything. Both the temple and the Adventurers' Guild offered her a place, but all the witch wanted was to farm.
The witch was powerful, but she preferred using light magic to illuminate things.
The witch was a formidable fighter, but she preferred teasing her pets with all kinds of offensive spells.
The witch could foretell the future, but she liked using her crystal ball to check whether the weather would be good for farming.
When asked why, Lovira replied sincerely, "Don't you think there's something so wonderful about watching the things you've planted with your own hands grow?"
Outside, countless seedlings rustled in the wind, carrying with them the hopes of new beginnings.

"So, did you take me in because raising me makes you happy, too?" Lovira turned and found herself looking straight into a pair of eyes filled with amusement and curiosity.
Lovira answered honestly. "No. At first, I just wanted to sell you for money. You seemed like you'd fetch a good price."
"..."
"Hey, don't get mad! It's not like I actually sold you!"
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry. I'd be happy to have you stay, too... I shouldn't have said I'd sell you!"
