(Former title: I Became a Bug After Entering the Wasteland)
For seventy years, heteromorphs have ravaged the world. The Federation has drawn a boundary.
Within it lies the home where humanity survives. Beyond it lies the forbidden "Outer Domain."
Unfortunately, Cen Xiao isn't very lucky.
An ordinary wage worker, she transmigrates for no apparent reason, then wakes up in the Outer Domain and nearly dies taking a heteromorph down with her!
Luckily, Unit 49 agrees to take her in. This time, she just wants to stay alive.
But life never goes according to plan.
Everyone in the Federation knows ordinary weapons can't kill heteromorphs, yet she can do it with nothing but a piece of rebar.
Worse still, the mysterious voice in her head leaves her with a warning: "Don't trust anyone!"
Cen Xiao has no choice but to keep her head down in the unit and clear out heteromorphs alongside her teammates.
But the more she sees these so-called "mutated creatures," the more wrong they seem.
On the day of a mock exam, heteromorphs invade the school and choose their prey according to a strange order.
At an ancient temple, they transform into a cloud of mist and make the monks' features vanish into thin air.
At a steel mill, the heteromorphs don't eat people. They specifically target the ore!
At first, Cen Xiao only wanted to solve the mystery of what was happening to her.
But gradually, she discovers that the stories about heteromorphs, the Outer Domain, and even the disaster from seventy years ago all seem to come from the same account...
So what does that boundary seal away: humanity's past, or its future?
Reading guide:
1. There is a male lead, but the romance is understated. The focus is on the plot.
2. No superpowers, and this is not a wish-fulfillment story.
