I haven't updated in a long time because of work. I'll start with a short story to get back into the swing of things, then reorganize and finish the ending of the long story I left unfinished.
Long live Cang-Ge! I'm using the sect name as the title. I absolutely, definitely did not do it because I was too lazy to come up with a name!
This story is entirely fictional, with no real-life inspirations for its characters.
Background:
The main events take place during the 110s, around the Damodong and White Emperor River Pass eras. Some of the background is based on the Die server's environment and may not align with the narrative on subscription servers.
Characters:
Main characters
Healing Song: A newbie who started playing in the 95 era, during Sword and Gallbladder, Zither and Heart. She has a great aptitude for the game and improves quickly. During the Flower Moon Courtyard era, she couldn't take the abuse from pickup groups anymore, so she gathered a few friends and formed a team. After weathering many difficulties, she became the leader and shot-caller of one of the top veteran teams on the server. Outside of raid bosses, her favorite thing is achievement hunting. She's working toward 140,000 achievement points and absolutely hates PVP.
Cangyun: Started playing in the 90 era, during Frosty Snow, Dragon City. Once a PVP powerhouse with quite a reputation in the Valley of the Evil, he stepped away from PVP during the 110 Damodong era and joined Healing Song's team. A skilled player, he favors chicken dinner, battlegrounds, and 3v3 arenas outside of raids.
Major supporting characters
Cece: A veteran player who started in the 50 era, when the Game launched during Winds Rising Over Rice Fragrance. He lived through the faction wars that swept the whole server during the 70 era, when Battle of Zhanchan Garan was the rage. He gradually stepped away from PVP, but still loves dueling and 3v3 arenas, and has consistently ranked among the top players in the Wind and Cloud Rankings. Straightforward by nature, he is one of the founding members of Healing Song's team.
Monk: Started playing in the 80 era, during Bashu Storms. In the 95 era, he picked Healing Song up off the roadside when she was still a newbie. His raid skills are steady, but he has a laid-back personality and treats Healing Song like a little sister. One of the founding members of her team.
Tiance: Started playing in the 80 era, during Bashu Storms. He is the Monk's coworker in real life and has a powerful sense of pride. He wields a Great Orange Weapon and was once the "best player in the world" in newbie Healing Song's eyes. He confessed his feelings to her twice, but after the 818 scandal, he broke off all ties with the team. One of the founding members of Healing Song's team.
Other supporting characters, appearing later
Second Young Master: Straightforward, comes from a wealthy family, and only wants to take down that Mo Wen every day. A core member of Healing Song's team.
Mo Wen: Cold and calculating, clever at scheming. His favorite pastime is tormenting Second Young Master in all sorts of ways. A core member of Healing Song's team.
Whale: Introverted, technically skilled, and used to hiding in corners of the map to deal damage. A core member of Healing Song's team.
Healing Poison: Gentle by nature, but always has a few complaints when she sees Whale getting stuck in the Autumn Wind map. A core member of Healing Song's team.
Ten Thousand Flowers: A healer and damage dealer, equally skilled at PVE and PVP, and an all-around technical powerhouse. A cool, decisive former solo player from a wealthy family, she joined Healing Song's team after the 818 scandal. A core member of the team.
Theme: Meeting someone need not be a chance encounter. It is also respect, and falling for them.
