Cool-headed, perceptive heirloom organizer x easygoing, restrained traveler
Jiang Li has a strange illness no one knows about. When she touches the belongings of the dead, she sees visions of what they experienced, glimpsing broken memories buried by time and denied by the world.
The visions are not real, yet every detail can be traced. The shadows are illusory, yet every word speaks of injustice.
While organizing someone's belongings, she comes across a damaged diary that should have been destroyed and stumbles upon a cold case from twenty years ago.
Following the diary left behind by the deceased, she enters an abandoned village by the lake. On the way, she meets Jian Zhou, a traveler who has wandered for years and carries the scars of a painful youth.
They start out with different goals, but their paths converge at every turn. Amid the bewildering shadows of the past, they become each other's support.
Dark currents surge through the abandoned village, and the shadows of old acquaintances have yet to fade.
Anonymous late-night messages warn of danger, and nameless threats cross mountains and rivers. The layers of a sand-mining scandal from years ago, and the good and evil of human nature hidden in the folds of time, have never truly been laid to rest.
They retrace the past, going against the flow of time to confront the lingering darkness.
