Ten years ago, a famous band of mercenaries passed through Oak Village. The children, who had grown up listening to travelers' tales about adventurers, saw their first tall warriors clad in fine armor, cold and aloof mages, and cheerful thieves with nimble fingers who could perform all kinds of tricks. For the first time, they truly realized that the world beyond their village was far more vibrant and varied than they had imagined.
So the four children made a pact beneath the great oak at the village entrance: once their studies were complete, they would set out together and become the greatest adventuring party in the world!
That would have been a perfectly good way to begin the story. Ellis, the first to finish his studies, thought so too.
If only his companions hadn't all met with accidents and turned into animals.
1. I know fantasy is dead as a genre, but why is nobody writing adventure stories? I'm starving, so I'm starting one myself! (howls)
2. My friend says work has already destroyed my good nature, and everything I write is dark now. I think she's right, so I want to write something lighthearted this time! I don't have an outline, which is a bit of a headache, but whatever, I'm writing!
3. Everyone will turn back into humans eventually.
