[Sci-fi ABO | Strong Leads | Rekindled Romance | 1v1]
In the more than four hundred years since the Federal First Military Academy was founded, Lin Shuo and Duan Yuheng became its second pair of Double-S partners.
Their AO pheromone compatibility was 99.7 percent, the highest in the history of Tianshu Academy.
Both had been loners, but they were forced to work together.
As they were sent on mission after mission and entrusted their lives to each other time and again, their feelings quietly blossomed.
Then, in the battle at the D7 dead zone, Lin Shuo's mental strength was severely damaged, and his rating fell from S to C.
Rumors spread, and an order to reassign partners was delivered to Duan Yuheng. He tore it up on the spot.

A few months later, an aircraft exploded before Duan Yuheng's eyes, bursting into a sky full of flames.
Over the comms, Lin Shuo urged him in a weak voice: "Duan Yuheng, don't chase me."
For the six years after Lin Shuo's death, Duan Yuheng kept his promise and rose to become the youngest major general in the Federation.
But the partner's place beside him remained empty.

Little Scene:
Six years later, a light rain fell over Gray Harbor, and the exchange of fire began ahead of schedule.
Duan Yuheng's squad was cut off from retreat, so he acted as bait to cover his teammates.
At the critical moment, a hand reached out from the shadows and yanked him into an alley.
The newcomer's hood was pulled low. He whispered:
"Need a guide, sir? I know these streets well."
Duan Yuheng stared at the old badge tied to the drawstring of the hood at the newcomer's neck. He recognized it without needing to look closely.
He spoke, his voice hoarse in a way that was unlike him:
"Look up."
