Shouyi was the most ordinary cat in all of creation. Little did he know that, by a stroke of luck, he would awaken his own intelligence.

The Investiture of the Gods was still underway. He figured that if he could manage to get himself a title, he'd have reached the pinnacle of cat life and would have a great story to tell his descendants. But when he arrived at the office in charge of the Investiture, they turned him away for a simple reason.

At the very least, you have to be human.

Overcome with grief and outrage, he found that even Heaven was merciless. The battle between the Chan and Jie sects was about to erupt, and the powerless cat was caught in Nezha's attack. His soul went west, but by a twist of fate, the Old Lord took pity on him and appointed him to an official post.

His dream had come true at a terrible price. Shouyi was about to demand an explanation from that murderous god when he was given an important assignment on his very first day on the job.
