There Are Stars in That Sea

Lu Xingchen always feels as if he is living in an endless deep sea.

The upheavals of his youth are like heavy waters, trapping him in silence and isolation. He is used to bearing every hardship alone and dares not open his heart to anyone. He believes he can only drift alone in the darkness for the rest of his life, without a glimmer of light.

Su Wan is a ray of starlight that falls into this deep sea.

She is gentle yet resilient. Seeing the brokenness and loneliness hidden beneath his shell, she does not barge in. She simply stays by his side, quietly offering warmth, little by little. She tells him that the deep sea does not have to be endless night; there are stars hidden in those waters.

They meet in a small seaside town, where the tides ebb and flow and the sea breeze drifts over the sand. They watch the sun sink into the sea and listen to the waves rise and fall, slowly lowering their defenses. Day by day, Su Wan's gentle presence melts the ice around Lu Xingchen's heart, while she becomes willing to lay bare the vulnerability she has kept hidden.

But the shadows of the past have never truly gone away. The storms of reality keep coming, trying again and again to drag him back into the endless deep. Together, they must face old wounds, other people's judgment, and the sudden trials of parting that fate throws their way.

This is not a redemption that happens overnight, but a long journey of supporting each other.

Lu Xingchen finally understands that starlight does not simply appear from nowhere. Su Wan is willing to stay by his side and search for glimmers of light in the deep sea with him. And Su Wan knows that the star she has found beneath the waves will, in turn, protect all the tenderness within her.

The tides rise and fall, and the sea remains blue year after year.

So the deep sea has stars, and here in this world, I have you.
