As technology advanced, humanity officially entered the interstellar age. Its cutting-edge technology and supposedly invincible mechs were dealt a crushing blow upon reaching the universe.
The supposedly indestructible mechs were torn to shreds by aliens who had gone retro and taken up cultivation. Energy cannons hit the aliens without so much as scratching them. For the sake of survival, humanity had no choice but to leap from the age of technology into the age of astral cultivation.
You Ge thought aliens were a long way from her. After all, if the sky fell, someone taller would hold it up. That was, until a plant appeared on top of the residential block one day. The people around her all became its food.
You Ge looked up and saw the plant's flower-shaped face split in two, revealing fangs as it waited for her to walk right into its mouth.
You Ge was stunned. "It's come right to my doorstep!"
You Ge took off running. Terrifyingly, the strange plant yanked itself out of the ground and chased after her, snapping at her heels.
With no help to be found anywhere, You Ge used every trick she had to kill one alien plant, only to be gulped down by another one that popped up beside her.
On the verge of death inside the monster's stomach, You Ge refused to go down without a fight. If it was going to eat her, then she would take a few bites before she died. She bit into the alien plant's stomach twice.
The good news: You Ge didn't die. The rescue team arrived.
The bad news: After You Ge was spat out, she looked down at her reflection in the water and saw her face split in two, revealing the exact same fangs as the plant's.
Had she mutated?!
Luckily, You Ge was still human. A genius like her awakened a talent that only one in countless millions of humans could awaken, and she was immediately stamped as a genius.
Her dream of taking it easy was thoroughly crushed. She was packed off to a human military academy, becoming the tall person who would hold up the sky, as she used to put it.
Humanity's position in the universe was precarious. There were predators living in hyperspace, strange life-forms born after civilizations fell, metallic composite life, and spiritual entities without even physical bodies. Aliens kept squeezing humanity's living space, and one careless move could mean instant death.
Years later, You Ge, who had been repeatedly warned that she had only one life and must be careful, stood atop the corpses of all the renowned alien champions in the known universe. She became the undisputed number one and led humanity in a speedrun through the entire universe.
"This is your clan's strongest? I thought they were speed bumps."
"Keep it up. You're all doing your best to stay alive!"
