Luo Yan, the Jade Emperor's youngest daughter, descends to the mortal realm to undergo a trial. While everyone else experiences the joys and sorrows of human life, she becomes a cat. From the start, she ends up in the imperial hunting grounds, where the Third Prince, Mu Hengyu, finds her. She also meets four other young ones. Little by little, she watches these youthful boys and girls grow into nobles and ministers. (The cat never turns into a human.)
