Passionate, direct puppy-like foley artist x aloof, restrained, beautiful audio-description scriptwriter
Mystery and deduction | Mutual growth | Healing | Slow burn | Devoted | Older woman-younger man romance | Sweet
The first time Liang Hui met An Ning, the wind chime above the shop door was knocked into pieces.
A girl sat by the window, quiet and colorful as a Monet painting.
Watching a dramatic breakup play out made him inexplicably angry.
He just thought she was strange.
She was so angry she looked ready to crush her cup, yet she looked at him as if nothing were out of the ordinary.
Who could have guessed she'd smile at the end?
He'd always thought the phrase "smiling eyes" was silly. Didn't it just mean your eyes curved a little? Anyone could do that.
Until that moment.
Looking at Liu Anning, he understood the meaning of a certain phrase for the first time in his life.
Love at first sight.
The first time Liu Anning met Liang Hui was at Tingxue, her family's cultural shop.
Unfortunately, her older sister was getting dumped.
He had a striking mop of bright purple hair and strode over on long legs, looking ready for a fight.
Before they'd even met, he stood up for her sister, snatched her cup, and splashed coffee all over the man.
Ice cubes scattered across the floor, rolling everywhere.
Only later did she find out he was the foley artist her senior had introduced.
Great.
A perfect professional match.
Though he didn't seem easy to handle.
Later, in a video, Liu Anning said:
[Three white bedsheets are lifted high by the wind, billowing into round, plump sails.]
Liang Hui stared at the screen and pondered for ages.
What kind of wind could turn old bedsheets into round, plump sails?
Later, he really went looking for the wind.
Liu Anning also said:
[Listen, it's snowing.]
So what should snow sound like?
He really went looking for snow, too.
Then Liu Anning said:
[When people are looking forward to something, even their breathing sounds unusually lovely.]
Liang Hui bent over his desk, puzzling over what anticipation sounded like. For the first time, he began to doubt his professional abilities.
It wasn't until one early morning that he finally understood.
Maybe the problem wasn't the sound at all.
The problem was Liu Anning.
One old recording after another is brought back to life.
A missing girl;
A recording in total darkness;
And, more than anything, silences so old that even time has forgotten them...
All gradually point toward the same unfinished story.
Before all those silences can find their voices again,
Liang Hui hears his own heartbeat first.
It's so loud.
Too loud for him to pretend he can't hear it.
Later, Liu Anning asks him:
"Didn't you say that the more fake sounds you make, the easier it is to tell when a sound can't be faked?"
"Yeah."
"So what can't be faked?"
Loving you.
Please tell me about the silence, too.
He gives sound back to silent images. She helps people who cannot see to "see" the world.
