The Elite Family

Lu Ning is an ordinary person who meets Pei Xinjian on a breezy day.

From the start, she crashes into his car and nearly gets into an accident. Later, they meet again at a university alumni gathering.

Pei Xinjian drops into her life without warning.

Lu Ning goes from being on the fringes to becoming the center of Pei Xinjian’s life.

She doesn’t know what life in a top-tier family is like, but one day Pei Xinjian tells her, “Maybe it means you can see me in the news, but you can see much more of me in everyday life.”

Pei Xinjian goes grocery shopping with Lu Ning, buys medicine in the middle of the night when she has a fever, and, while keeping their relationship private in name, makes sure everyone knows he has someone he loves.

It all begins on that breezy day.

After Lu Ning nearly gets into an accident, Pei Xinjian takes her to the hospital. The endless chirping of cicadas fills the narrow space inside the car.

He suddenly leans toward her. “Fasten your seat belt.”
