Synopsis
Plenty of chapters in reserve + pseudo-incest + brooding, possessive ghost top + older, controlling partner + dark possessiveness After being kept captive by his nominal older brother, Ji Fengchun, for over ten years, Chi Qiao can no longer bear the torment and drowns himself. He then binds himself to the “Correction System” and learns that he is a short-lived cannon-fodder character in a cultivation novel. He was never supposed to have much to do with the world-ending villain who torments the protagonists all the way to the ending. Fate has other plans. The villain, Ji Fengchun, is cold-hearted and ruthless. In the original novel, he is single-mindedly determined to claim the protagonist as his one true love, but by mistake he uses every means of possession on his adopted younger brother, Chi Qiao. Chi Qiao is at his wits’ end, while fans of the original novel’s popular couple are left dumbfounded. To fix the bug without breaking up the fan-favorite couple, the System decides to start over. A task-taker takes over Chi Qiao’s storyline, replacing his name, background, face, and voice. It gives Chi Qiao a new identity, allowing the real Chi Qiao to disappear from the villain’s sight, stay far from the center of the plot, and fend for himself. And so, Chi Qiao vanishes. Ji Fengchun no longer forces him to call him “husband” and then “big brother” in bed. He no longer wakes in the middle of the night to be met with a storm of intimacy, nor does he have to endure the man’s increasingly lustful “discipline,” disguised as scolding, again and again. After he stops treating Ji Fengchun as his brother, he is finally free. One sunny morning, Chi Qiao packs his things and works up the courage to seek out the Daoist priest who was kindest to him in his previous life, the one he had loved most. He decides to follow the priest into seclusion in the mountains and stay by his side for the rest of his life. ++ Everyone says Ji Fengchun is an evil cultivator, one who practices ghostly arts and dark magic, and that he’ll meet a horrible end sooner or later. He scoffs and pays them no mind. That is, until his ever-obedient younger brother throws himself into a lake to avoid being given a childbearing gu. Only then does Ji Fengchun finally shed tears of blood and taste the pain of a heart pierced through. As a hundred ghosts turn on him and myriad gu worms gnaw at his heart, Ji Fengchun falls into demonic cultivation overnight. Out of his mind, he kills himself at Chi Qiao’s grave, cursing him with the vilest words in the world and swearing that no matter where Chi Qiao is reborn, he will follow him there. When he returns to their childhood, he faces the scene of their first meeting: young Chi Qiao falls into a pond while picking lotus flowers, calls him “Big Brother,” and begs Ji Fengchun to save him. This time, Ji Fengchun does not stand by coldly as he did in his previous life. He jumps in and rescues him. The task-taker, wearing Chi Qiao’s face, clings to his neck and softly thanks him. Ji Fengchun feels as if he has fallen into an icy abyss, his smile frozen on his lips. That isn’t Chi Qiao. And that’s not all. A year passes, then two, then many more. No matter how thoroughly he searches the old haunts of Xianjing, Chi Qiao never appears. It is as if he has vanished from the face of the earth, leaving not a trace. His younger brother is gone. How can he find him and make him come home, obedient and willing? Ji Fengchun spends years thinking it over. He tries every method, from summoning spirits to divination, until at last he scoffs and comes up with the perfect plan. ++ Every day spent dating the Daoist priest makes Chi Qiao blissfully happy. He spends his days planting flowers and vegetables, living the good life. One night, the Daoist priest stands beside the curtain, watching him sleep. His gaze is deep as he strokes Chi Qiao’s stomach and murmurs in a hoarse, delighted voice, “Now you definitely won’t run away from your big brother again.” ++++ Readers who strongly dislike extreme possessiveness, please proceed with caution. One-on-one, happy ending, both leads sexually inexperienced, pseudo-incest, reborn, melodramatic, pregnancy and childbirth, and coercive control. Don’t overanalyze the details, and don’t relate it to real life. Keep the discussion civil, and don’t conflate the characters with the author. Theme: Take control of your own fate
