This is a short story within a quick transmigration novel. The main text doesn't begin with an introduction to the world, so it may be a little hard to follow. Please be prepared before you start reading.
Li Ran, a maintainer hoping for a new lease on life, agrees to work for a System. He diligently plays cannon-fodder scumbag men in various worlds, abuses the protagonists, and eagerly meets his end.
But just as he's about to finish his work and retire, the System suddenly tells him that all the worlds he once maintained are about to collapse!
Li Ran: ??? What does that have to do with me!?
System: (Offers a deal no one could refuse.)
Li Ran: Deal.
And so, Li Ran returns to one of the worlds he once visited...
This time, he's a hypocritical master who covets his disciple, resurrected from the dead.
Content warning: My take on a quick transmigration story with an all-conquering protagonist. This is a short-story writing exercise, and I'll cut a lot for the sake of pacing. It's melodramatic. The love interest is head-over-heels and very devoted, while the protagonist has some feelings, but not many.
For the protagonist, the mission comes first. Everything else is just a means to an end.
*The love interest is really, really devoted.*
Theme: We hold our own destinies in our hands.
The protagonist seemed to think that the two of them were very similar before.
The "emotional eyes" gave the author a big bug ~ full of interest
