Cool, bookish young lady of a ducal household × ?
[Traditional inner-court intrigue | Entire cast are natives of the world, with no transmigration, rebirth, System, or golden finger | Male lead appears late | Not a multiple-love-interest story | Still waters run deep | Slow burn | Everyday life]
Shen Youfang grew up amid the splendor of the Duke of Yu’s household. Her father died young, and her mother withdrew from the world. Her younger sister was still a child, and beneath the high walls of the duke’s estate, they had no family they could truly rely on.
Everyone said the Duke of Yu’s household had a respectable family tradition. Yet their grandmother, who spent her days worshiping Buddha and seemed kind and benevolent, treated every child in the family as a pawn. Their eldest aunt was socially adept and knew how to get along with everyone, but she had her own schemes. Their third aunt was domineering and sharp-tongued, and had long wanted to devour the widows and orphans of the second branch. Brothers and sisters each pursued their own future, while the tender affection between them was as fragile as gauze, ready to tear at a touch.
But Youfang was never afraid of hardship. She wanted to survive and fight for what she deserved, to become someone no one would dare bully or look down on, and to climb step by step with her sister.
-
· They marry first, then fall in love, going from courteous respect to understanding and devotion.
· The male characters will appear gradually. I won’t spoil which one is the male lead just yet, but he’s probably an exceptionally gifted, reserved flirt?
· The heroine is a devoted big sister. The world may be huge, but her little sister comes first.
Theme: A tree that towers above the forest can withstand any storm
The writing is very good, the writing is subtle and foreshadowing, which is my favorite style.
