Aside from Chi Yanjun and the drummer, the former bandmates' old band Echo came with plenty of clout.
Chi Yanjun had only wanted to sing in peace, stay out of the spotlight, and avoid trouble. But during an online concert, he unexpectedly appeared in a girl group dance performance. The band Listen went viral overnight and topped the trending searches.
Fan A: Thank heaven, thank earth, and thank our glorious lead singer for letting me know my old favorite has made a comeback!
Fan B: Are Echo's fans crazy? A technically incompetent guitarist with no talent, a scumbag bassist who can't be heard, a keyboardist who makes trouble for no reason, and a current lead singer and drummer whose abilities are unknown. Listen probably isn't even as good as their former band, Echo. You should jump ship before it's too late!
Fan C: Everyone else in the band showed their faces, but the lead singer didn't. Is he hiding because he's so ugly he's ashamed?
The five band members read the comments, then looked up at one another.
Chi Yanjun glanced at himself in the mirror and thought: This is bad. I just debuted, and already I've been slapped with a pure-black label: "ugly."

Chi Yanjun never imagined Bei Zhushi would actually cry. The aloof flower of the high mountains, crying with a straight face! Who knew he was secretly a little crybaby?!
Chi Yanjun: I like you! We both feel the same way!
Bei Zhushi: Disbelief, then tears of emotion and happiness.
Chi Yanjun: ?
Chi Yanjun: They're cyberbullying me! It's fine, I'm strong inside. Don't worry about it.
Bei Zhushi: Gets angry, publicly fires back, and sheds a few more tears out of concern for him.
Chi Yanjun: .

Listen's songs cover a wide range of styles, not just pure rock.
Onstage, Chi Yanjun sang with ever-growing enthusiasm. Below, the fans' light sticks formed a dark-pink starry sky. The crowd's roar filled the venue, and chants of "Encore!" kept ringing in his ears. In a rush of excitement, he turned and fell into Bei Zhushi's arms.
Bei Zhushi lowered his head and kissed his forehead.
The whole venue erupted. Amid the screams, Chi Yanjun sang the final line of the love song: "Kiss kiss, my love. Love carved into the snow."
