Synopsis
After six years of a marriage in name only, Shao Hanpu divorced her and married someone else just three months later.
A red carpet covered the ground, her wedding dress was pristine white, and the venue was filled with elegant guests and colorful flowers. Amid thunderous applause and congratulations, the groom, impeccably dressed in a suit, held a glass of champagne in one hand and answered his ex-wife's call with the other.
A clear, quiet voice came from the other end: "You're marrying her?" He had not heard her voice in so long. Even though he had heard it thousands of times before, his ears still grew warm.
After a moment of silence, he answered, "Mm." Remembering how she had cried, thrown tantrums, and threatened to kill herself throughout their six-year marriage in name only, he turned cold. "We're very much in love, Miss Jiang. Please don't bother me again. If you need money, I..."
"I've transferred ten million to the card I gave you" was all she got out before the call abruptly ended.
Shao Hanpu stared at the disconnected call screen, burning with embarrassment and anger. He gave a cold laugh, took a sip of champagne, and went off to entertain guests with the bride. On the other end of the call, night lay still as water, and the river breeze cut cold. The phone smashed into pieces on the ground. Jiang Suming, weary and indifferent, cut her wrist. Blood poured out, the pain sharp, and the wound on her wrist clotted. So cutting your wrists didn't kill you after all.
The cold, dark river lay right in front of her. Without hesitation, Jiang Suming jumped in.
When she opened her eyes again, Jiang Suming stared at the white ceiling of her university dorm and felt despair.
Her roommates enthusiastically praised her looks, boasting that if they posted her photo on the campus forum, there would be a long line of people pursuing her. Jiang Suming was about to stop them, but then she remembered the astronomical medical bills her father would soon face.
Forget it...
She closed her eyes and stared at the ceiling.
She could do anything. Anything was fine. It didn't matter.
As long as she didn't choose him again, how much worse could this rotten life get?
A mechanical voice rang in her ear: "Ding. System bound. Mission objective: gather Shao Hanpu's affection."
She suddenly opened her eyes.
The person who had been thoroughly worn out and passed out lay asleep on her lap, eyes closed. Jiang Suming lowered her gaze and traced his features with her fingertips, her expression tender and affectionate, though her eyes were dark and icy.
Love me... Do you know I once tried to kill myself for you?
I tried to cut my wrists... Do you know I jumped into the river because it didn't work?
The water was so cold, the riverbed so dark, and the wound on my wrist hurt so much when it got wet...
Now you're telling me you love me...
You once looked down on my love, and now you look down on my hatred...
You love me...
The weary, world-weary, possessive, and alluring aloof beauty in the top position
VS
The cold on the outside, warm on the inside, sharp-tongued, fiercely protective CEO in the bottom position
Reader's guide:
1. A domineering CEO and innocent flower story. The female lead is a poisonous little white flower, and the male lead is an arrogant CEO. She is the quintessential white flower, with a seriously ill father, a troublesome mother, a useless younger brother, and a resilient spirit. He is the quintessential CEO, endlessly revising proposals and working overtime, neglecting his health as a self-made man (and with more money than he can count, obviously).
2. A strong couple, both pure, happy ending.
3. The top-position lead chases the bottom-position lead into a crematorium. Neither side is perfect. I'm writing this to please myself, so don't attack the author.
Theme: Love is a sea of filth, where every evil is born.
