It was just after the class reshuffle in the second semester of Grade 10. Looks-obsessed Qi Yuan fell in love at first sight with the ridiculously handsome Qin Yan (not really), and was smitten the moment they met.

Qi Yuan (pulling out his phone): "Hi, classmate. I've been noticing you for a while. You're really good-looking. Can I have your phone number?"

Qin Yan (coldly): "I don't have one."

Qi Yuan wondered if anyone these days could really be without a phone number. He thought about it for a moment, then suddenly understood.

So he wanted to give me his WeChat.

Qi Yuan: "Then give me your WeChat."

Qin Yan: "..."

Does that thought process need to be checked out somewhere?

Qi Yuan struck out when he first asked for Qin Yan's WeChat, but he didn't give up. He assumed Qin Yan was shy and would warm up with time, and so began his one-sided campaign of pestering him.

Until one day, Qin Yan said coldly, "Stop following me."

Only then did Qi Yuan realize that Qin Yan wasn't shy at all. He simply hated him.

And there he was, acting like an idiot and pestering him for so long.

After all that, it turned out he was the joke.

From then on, Qi Yuan went from fan to hater and never spoke to Qin Yan first again.

Qi Yuan thought that was the end of whatever connection he and Qin Yan might have had in this life.

But in the second semester of Grade 11, the homeroom teacher somehow arranged (set them up) for them to become deskmates???

After a chaotic stretch of days, Qi Yuan realized that Qin Yan's attitude toward him... didn't seem like hatred.

Then, not long afterward, he accidentally discovered the name Qin Yan had saved him under on WeChat.

"Little Squirrel."

Qi Yuan: "...?"
