A.I., which was still in its early stages of development in the first half of the twenty-first century, made significant research breakthroughs by the middle of the century. By the end of the century, the entire world had been swept up in the artificial intelligence craze, and A.I. had become part of every aspect of life. But the enormous investment required for A.I. finally brought capitalism to its knees. In 2100, the economy collapsed completely and died along with the twenty-first century. The international situation was turned upside down. More and more anarchists emerged, and before long, the very concept of a "nation" was wiped out.
At the same time, those who already had more resources began hoarding them on an ever grander scale. Regeneration and environmental protection were all cast aside, as human greed devoured the already battered Earth.
By 2184, Earth could no longer bear the long-term deterioration of its environment.
Desertification swept across the globe in a matter of days. Once the last oasis in the world was occupied and sealed off by an organization that controlled most of the planet's resources, all that remained for ordinary people was a wasteland already stripped of its resources and blanketed in yellow sand.
From that moment on, "death," once a subject no one dared speak of, suddenly seemed both so near and so far away.
If the entire land became a desert and only one oasis remained, would you save yourself, the person you love, or as much of humanity as you could?
