Set in an alternate pre-Qin era. Thirteen years ago, Zheng conquered Fan and burned Fan Palace to the ground. Two baby girls were found in the same fire. One became the "Ghost Princess," imprisoned by the state of Zheng on Broken Parasol Cliff; the other became an orphan on the cliff whose origins were a mystery. Thirteen years later, one risks her life to descend the cliff for the other and obtain an imperial decree restoring her rightful name...
And so the story begins: confrontations at court, turmoil in the inner palace, grudges spanning two generations, rival states maneuvering against one another, and lightly fantastical elements woven together with images of fate. Everyone is swept along by desire, loyalty, and the times. Everyone is trapped by fate, unable to escape love and hate or evade the chaos of a world at war.
Theme: In a chaotic age, all are trapped by the demons in their hearts.
