Chen Xiye is the wild man Xihe picked up and brought home after going up the mountain to gather firewood.
When they first met, he was covered in blood, yet still possessed an astonishing air of elegance. Smitten by his looks, Xihe took him home.
The man was badly injured. He had not only gone blind, but also lost his memory. They say a life-saving debt should be repaid with one's hand in marriage, so Xihe, his rescuer, had him take the surname Chen and named him Xiye. She told him he was going to be her husband.
Perhaps out of conscience and a sense of duty, the man agreed.
Xihe, who had grown up eating at neighbors' tables, was delighted. It meant she finally had a family of her own.
Life with a husband was even better than she'd imagined. Though he was blind, he learned to do laundry and cook for her. They weren't rich, but their days were still full and happy. If she had to pick a fault, it was that her husband's energy seemed endless. Sometimes Xihe could barely keep up, and she woke every morning with aching, weak legs.
Xihe loved sitting with him on the swing in their little courtyard, basking in the sun with her head resting on his chest.
One day, as usual, Xihe was enjoying the sunshine with her husband in the courtyard when several people showed up. They insisted that the Alliance Leader return to the One Sword Alliance to take charge, and knelt on the ground, saying they wouldn't get up unless he did.
Xihe stared at them, bewildered. She looked at her blind husband and asked, "What Alliance Leader?"
He only shook his head and replied, "I don't know."
Later, the visitors told Xihe that her husband was the leader of the righteous path, the head of the One Sword Alliance. He had disappeared during the final battle against the Demon Lord years ago. Now that they had found him, they wanted to take him back to the alliance.
They wanted Xihe to persuade him to return.
Xihe asked, "What about me?"
They stammered and fell silent. At last, one of them said that those destined for great things could not let romance get in their way.
Xihe was heartbroken and sent her husband out of the room that night.
Her husband was heartbroken too. He paced outside in a panic, his voice full of pitiful distress. "Wife, it's so cold out here. Wife..."
Watching the fine snow drift past the window, Xihe's heart softened, and she let her husband back inside.
He held her tightly. His face, covered with clean white cloth, was full of sorrow. "Wife, don't you want me anymore?"
Xihe demanded to know who he really was.
Her husband kissed her forehead. "I'm your husband, Xiye, the Xiye of Xihe."
From the day he met her, he had been hers. He would not ask about the past. He was Chen Xiye in the present, Xihe's husband.
That night, the wooden bed in the room creaked for a long time.
The men of the One Sword Alliance waited in the distance, gazing toward the courtyard and hoping Xihe would persuade the Alliance Leader to return. They shivered in the cold, close to tears. Alliance Leader, when are you finally coming back to the One Sword Alliance?

A bright, spirited, and charming girl x a steady, reliable, considerate husband who knows how to act pitiful
PS:
1. The heroine is not a strong female lead, and is occasionally vulnerable.
2. A sweet slice-of-life story focused on the couple's relationship, one true pairing, happy ending.
3. What the hero used to be called doesn't matter. The heroine named him Chen Xiye, so Chen Xiye is what he is called. The hero's eyesight will eventually return.
